I really admire the concision of your writing. Substack has a way of bringing out long windedness in authors but that devil is behind you. Well done.

I would add another framing device however. This is another Will Ferrell vehicle; Netflix is famous for throwing truckloads of cash at projects with big stars. How much did they get paid to do a “road trip?” It’s not like a documentary crew found out about the “road trip” and asked if they could tag along. This was a project that was presented to Netflix for approval. Contracts were signed, agents got their cuts, lunches were had. This is a conventional “buddy” movie, like Midnight Run, or Beverly Hills Cop. It cost millions of dollars.

Anyway, thanks for the review. Your insights are great.

This is an excellent point.

Such utter propagandist bullshist. The conditioning is so strong.

It’s what I’ve been saying for 8 years: at all times the trans activists are working the refs; the Will Ferrell movie chooses an argument no one is having in order to avoid the arguments most top of mind, safeguarding children and spaces away from men for women. What galls is the smugness.

Expand full comment

Yes, the smug "I'm so kind and decent, supporting my poor transitioning friend" attitude, compared to the mean comments on social media that Ferrell himself would have been thinking merely a decade beforehand, along with virtually everyone else!

Thank you. And great point--that's so true.

I didn't even make it to the halfway mark. What did you make of the story the guy they met up with in the bar just before they arrived at Harper's sister's house? How when he first got to school he sat with the girls, and when the "teacher took us to potty I went into the girls". And how his Mother was called and had to drive to the school to explain to him he was a boy?

I didn't and don't believe a word of the stories of middle aged men who have suddenly found the strength to come out, when they say they knew all their lives. It is demanded of us all to embrace their newfound 'authenticity' but they lie and gaslight us in the process.

Because they are incapable of being authentic they're dragging us all down and now we are not allowed to be.

Yeah I thought it all sounded bizarre, too. Probably just wanted to hide his AGP

Expand full comment

I haven't watched the doco (just one of many historic puff pieces of similar nature, oh the heroism, the courage...) but this is my take as well. Narratives are so convenient and their is ample proof part of the AGP condition is concealment. Indeed considering the issue is around identity it may even be diagnostic. Ie people might formulate narratives for public consumption to navigate their condition, or they might even be potentially mistaking these narratives as their 'truth' as part of an identity disorder.

You've clearly done more research than I (even care to). That makes sense. I just went by the obviously bullshittery.

Expand full comment

I'm probably overstating what isn't so much a research finding (I'm not a researcher or any kind of specialist that deals directly with AGPs) but is just impressions built up over time.

Eg, During the transexual period in the 70s-80s, because it was necessary to pass assessments by doctors/psychologists, it was noted by these specialists that transexuals were providing a scripted narrative designed to prove their trans stability and get acceptance for surgery. This has also been the case for later generations in seeking gender affirming care. Also, from various expose's of social media accounts it seems many AGPs have a private persona where sexual fetish is on display, while maintaining a public persona that is deliberately innocuous (swimmer Lia Thomas is a recent example). This duplicity is notable in it's design to misinform the general public of the true nature of their condition.

I feel that I can pretty much guess a lot about Andrew Steele's hard drive, unfortunately! Anyone wanting any insights only needs go no further than the work of Gwendoline Gluck. She definitely takes one for the team!

Expand full comment

Yes, I know what you mean ... Possibly a typo-Genevieve Gluck it is and she is a total hero and severely underappreciated. It turns out there is a lot of weird men out there, but I guess we knew that already...

Expand full comment

Ah yes, of course it’s Genevieve. I’d like to blame it on autocorrect, but it’s more likely to be a ‘me’ error.

Expand full comment

Yep. Well if you aren't chock-a-block full of all things trans for an hour or two, give Will and Harper a go. You'll be angry in no time.

Expand full comment

I probably overdo the trans focus as it is- I'm just perplexed that many in the general population don't seem to mind children being sterilized and so feel drawn to publicize the issue, even if most of the people I engage with already agree with me...

So yes, I think I will give it a go as rage fuel.

Thank you, Amy, for sacrificing how ever many minutes of you life this flic took. Sounds like straight up propaganda 🤔

For the cause! Lol...

That was exactly my reaction, just another piece of propaganda from the well-funded gender ideologues.

So, do we hear from the ex-wife? The daughters? No? I wonder why that is.

The daughters did get a small timeslot near the beginning. The older one seemed emotionally distant and the younger sad and confused. I suspect the cameo was highly edited.

As we watch Will and Andy sitting in bars and drinking beers, sitting on their deckchairs overlooking various stunning views and drinking beers, playing pool and drinking beers, watching car racing and drinking beers, cheering at a football game and drinking beers, only the most deluded person could imagine this was a man and a woman on a road trip, drinking beers.

Rather, it was a well-known comedian trying to offer solace to a friend who was in the grips of a huge psychological crisis, who as you pointed out Amy, seemed not that much happier having decided to live his escapism full-time. I too, highly doubt that 'Harper' would opt for the castration and penis inversion surgery, and also that he would seek out another trans-identifying man to have a relationship with. No doubt there will be some woman on the scene in the future seeing as it's fairly certain he's of the transbian persuasion.

It's also so obvious that it's all about the clothes and the shoes and boobs! These guys with a transvestic fetish simply cannot talk about their special girl identity without mentioning a particular item of clothing from their childhood/adolescence. In this case, a pair of his sister's white bell bottom swishy trousers. And what woman walks around in a pair of tracksuit pants with stilettos? The rundown house out in the desert that he'd planned to have as his cross-dressing sanctuary was suitably tragic.

I felt that Andrew Steele bared a lot, while Will Ferrell simply played his normal bozo role and offered nowhere near the level of disclosure and honesty that his friend did. Perhaps this is a new genre of movie - we've had the blaxploitation movies of the 70s and now it's time for the transploitation movies of the 20s.

My bet is that Andrew sells the Tiffany diamond earrings (spoiler alert!) and invests in some facial feminisation surgery next. And something needs to be done about that hair! I wonder if he was pulling his hair forward onto the top of his head to cover a receding hairline?

All of those people in the red states they roadtripped through that were so welcoming, would have had very different reactions in public to Andrew had he gone to use the women's toilets that their daughters and wives were using. They knew he was a man, but it was in deference to Ferrell's celebrity that they pandered to his insistence on Steele's womanhood and use of the 'she' and 'her' pronouns. Interesting aside: if one of Ferrell's longtime buddies came out as a flat earther would he accompany that person on a similar road trip of endorsement, but this time as more of a Uber cab journey amongst the drinking holes of the showbiz elite?

There is much made of the bravery of these men who come out in later life with a 'woman' identity, because other people simply couldn't imagine themselves publicly insisting they are something they are so clearly not. It really is absurd.

Good post! When I heard about this, I wondered if I would have to revise my low opinion of Will Ferrell. From what you've written here, apparently not.

Any Clint Eastwood “ go ahead punk, make my day” scenes ? How about 007, Miss Moneypenny, shaken not stirred macho action stories? Twin boob implants movies do not have the same vibes do they? I just can’t get enthralled with Clint E saying “ Go ahead punk feel my new boobs “ Why on earth torture yourself by watching this crap? You have lived through enough bs with your BCCNW saga. How is that fiasco coming along anyway ?

Your comment had me in stitches last night. Hahaha.

I'm waiting on a verdict in my show trial.

Expand full comment

Do you think they're going to drag this out for, what, five years? Expecting everyone to forget even though we won't?

Expand full comment

I mean, technically they could do that. There’s no rule about how long they have to make a verdict.

The saying is "the process is the punishment," and that is how they view it.

When this fraud collapses (and it will, just like lobotomies and the opioids crisis), people will look back and be perplexed as to how this happened. Nobody should be confused. These are morons high on their own egos. You'd think the medical industry would do some self-introspection after such a failure like opioids, but nothing happened.

If there is a way to sue them after the "trans" lie ends, it has to happen. I don't know the laws in Canada (I'm in the US), but lawsuits will end it here. Lots of people will pretend they didn't support things like the ones happening to you.

So, I guess you just have to wait.

The biggest takeaway? NO ONE CARES! Just another selfish fetishist putting his fee fees above everyone else’s and his has-been friend (I got the only pleasure and entertainment value available from this utter shite when the young kids didn’t know who Ferrell was) exploiting him over his mental illness. Two selfish men doing what selfish men do. Yawn.
