“Bad things happen, so we should permit more bad things”: the go-to argument for gender activists
Plus some personal updates and reflections on what’s new in the gender wars
The flurry of conversation following Alberta premier Danielle Smith’s new trans legislation (which I wrote about here) was invigorating until it was not. I took heart in the gender activists’, and mainstream media propagandists’, predictable meltdowns. It seemed like a harbinger of more rational times; I called it an “extinction burst.” At least until I saw the news that Canada’s security and intelligence agency, CSIS, is now apparently treating those critical of gender ideology like members of a Taliban sleeper cell—an unexpected blow, at least to my mind.
It was on this sour note that the next gender fight broke out online: the one over male “breast milk.” The fight that gives a new and unfortunate meaning to the term “milk man.”
I am assuming my readers are familiar with all these goings-on, but to summarize: British media ran with a news story hailing the domperidone-induced breast secretions of trans-identified males as being equivalent in value and safety to that of a mother’s milk. A “mother” as in a human female who birthed offspring, and not a man in a dress calling himself one—to be clear. The story was based on a single and extremely faulty study being adopted by a single UK NHS trust (which is basically a small program within the entire UK public health system).
Without going into all the details, the online discourse that erupted reminded me of just how often trans activists attempt to prove their “points” (points generally being AGP fantasies or desires for validation) by employing the following logic:
“Bad things happen, so we should permit more bad things.”
Once you see them doing it, you will see it everywhere. Some examples:
Some mothers are on medications that pass through their breast milk and present potential risks to the baby so therefore men should be able to “breastfeed”
Some mothers aren’t healthy and they’re allowed to breastfeed so therefore men should be able to “breastfeed” too
Incarcerated women have been raped by prison guards so therefore we should admit male rapists into female prisons
Teen girls have gotten breast implants and nose jobs so therefore we should allow kids to sterilize and mutilate themselves with “gender affirming care”
Birth control has side effects on young women so therefore girls should be allowed to take Lupron and develop osteoporosis (in their teen years), infertility, and maybe even brain swelling and vision loss
Women get injured in sports; it happens, so therefore men should play in women’s sports
Men have always been able to invade women’s spaces to rape, assault, or murder, therefore we should abolish all female sex-segregated spaces
Trans-identifying males are afraid of other males, because they are males and males can be violent, therefore we should allow any and all males to identify their way into female spaces—you know, to keep the males safe from other males at the expense of women’s safety, privacy, and dignity

Yep. Classic "They don't matter enough to even bother making a sound argument against" argument.
Excellent points, I can’t think of anything else at the moment.
