Extinction burst: Alberta's new trans legislation is causing unprecedented freak outs
What's the most unhinged meltdown you've seen?
Have you heard of an “extinction burst”? It’s a psychology term for “a sudden and dramatic increase in behaviour when reinforcement for that behaviour has been removed.”
Canada’s trans activists are currently having one.
These gender ideologues are long-accustomed to having their fits met with nervous acquiescence, which reinforces their childish behaviour. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s newly-proposed trans legislation marks a departure from the acquiescent pandering.
This is why we are seeing a dramatic increase in the number and intensity of tantrums. If we ignore the burst, the fits will eventually dissipate. (Let’s pray that this is what will happen.)
If you want to read more about Smith’s legislation, I covered it for The New Westminster Times here.
What I want to cover here is the actual meltdowns. I’ve compiled a few of my “favourites” and I invite you to share yours in the comments below!
This Canadian father, who describes himself as “unenthused about right wing populism,” has so lost the plot that he isn’t even trying to deny that puberty blocking drugs cause severe medical harms; instead, he says that girls are allowed to take birth control, which also has harmful side effects—so trans-identified kids should be able to take harmful drugs, too! All children should have the right to be irreparably harmed by the medical system, god damn it!
Our Dear Leader JT is also spazzing over Smith’s legislation. Astoundingly, he found it germane to mention that Smith interviewed American media personality Tucker Carlson only one week prior. The horror! Tucker must be some kind of powerful wizard who can manipulate foreign politicians into writing new legislation merely through osmosis of his far-right beliefs.
And finally, it wouldn’t be a proper tantrum if an unhinged activist didn’t accuse the state of genocide. Because we all know that not sterilizing and castrating gay and autistic children is literal genocide. Mmhmm.
Let me know what you’ve seen in the comments!

Hey Amy,
Some activist people are losing their minds. I am less worried after reading an article in The New York Times today, where there actually was talk of the dangers of full on affirmation with gender dysphoric youth. It's actually the first time I have seen a lefty newspaper cover anything of the sort. The timing couldn't be better!
What I have noticed is the way many erstwhile allies are quietly looking at their feet. It was all good fun when they could just put up slogans and flags but now that they have to explicitly articulate a defense of melting children’s bones? Under their own names? No thanky wanky! Danielle Smith has done a brilliant job of turning the tables from fait accompli on these policies to: why is damage to brain development good for pubescent children? Go ahead, tell us all. We’re all ears.
