Hello readers,
Tomorrow, October 23, my disciplinary hearing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives continues.
The college now posts a public livestream link for anyone who would like to tune in to their hearings—you’re no longer required to register. I assume, optimistically, that this is the result of the landslide of support I’ve had from around the globe as I fight this fight to keep my nursing license despite saying, when off duty, that men are not women.
It’s now my turn to present my case, though we have yet to get through the process of having my expert witnesses qualified. The college has spent an inordinate amount of time arguing that I should not have any experts to testify on my behalf.
You may recall that the magnificent, intellectual powerhouse of a woman, Kathleen Stock was qualified. So she will be making an appearance during these next three weeks.
I will also get a chance to testify on my behalf.
I am praying that these final 10 days of hearings (in addition to the 11 previous days) will mark the end of this ordeal. Then it will be a matter of written legal arguments, and waiting for the panel to reach a decision. I’m keeping the faith that they will rule fairly, and that due process will work. I am confident this will be the case.
I am also hoping that I can regain a sense of normalcy in my life once there are no further inquisition days looming. The decision could take longer than a year (based on what I’ve seen from previous BCCNM decisions) and could result in appeals, but I’m still hopeful that I will be awash in relief after November 8.
On that note, I’d like to mention that I feel guilty for not writing here as often as I would like to or should—I’m beyond grateful for every reader and want to make regular content for my free and paid subscribers. My plan is get back to normal life, which includes my brain operating at a greater capacity. Chronic stress is a real bitch.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out in support and shown up for me during this protracted battle. I couldn’t have done it without you.
And of course I especially could not have done this without my lawyers, Lisa Bildy and Karen Bastow, and the generous funding of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms.
Hope to see you tomorrow! xox
